Brendon Corrigan
I couldn’t see his face but I watched him as he jolted upright suddenly before he slowly turned, fumbling around to find somewhere to sit down. Still on the call, the look in his eyes was one that I had never seen before.

Jo Cawthorn … #MySurferChallengeStory.
I have always thought how cool and fun the surfers challenge looked and wondered (tongue in cheek) what it would be like to participate in it, however i was way to unfit and lazy to make 🥵🙈
At the end of may I decided that it was time for me to get off the couch and start getting more active but still procrastinated to a large degree … I was even hesitant to join a Parkrun as I figured it would take forever to complete 5km! if i survived at all. A friend finally convinced me to give it a go and i actually survived 🙂
I then decided that I didn’t only want my getting fit to benefit me but that i could maybe find a way of making it into something that would do some good for others at the same time and that is when i got the crazy idea to go from being a couch potato to a 10km run/walker in an effort to raise funds for the Amatola Haven Frail Care in Stutterheim.
So I am registered to complete not only my very first Surfers Challenge event but also my very first 10km race.
To say I am nervous would be an understatement but I am also excited and hopeful to succeed for all those who have believed in me and donated to such a worthy cause.
